Wood Pellets Cost PDF Print E-mail

No ImageThe selling price of pellets currently range from $120 to $200 per ton at an average of $150 per ton or $3 per bag.  The price will vary depending on your region.  It also depends on the pellets’ availability and season, just like any other heating fuel.

Wood pellets are becoming more and more popular and sometimes the supply does not meet the demand.  It would be wise for you to stack bags of pellets during the off season to ensure that you will have a supply for winter.  In measuring the right amount of heating that you need for your home, you must consider the tightness or insulation of your home, its layout and size, the level of comfort you desire, and the local climate in your region.  An average user will consume one bag (40lbs) of pellets in 24 hours for 1,500 square feet of space that is being heated.   Quite economical, don’t you think?

Your data on the cost of pellets is a bit out of date as of Nov. 2009 pellets in
our area are $350/ ton or about $6.50 per 40 lbs bag. At 13.5 cent per killowat
hour I can heat cheaper with *electricity. (Ontario Canada) The power company
wil tell us that electricty is 6 cent / kwh but with delivery charges and other
stuff its really 13.5 / kwh
